Winter Events

One of Canada’s most unique events, Stratford’s annual SWAN PARADE will take place on Sunday, April 2^nd at 2pm sharp.

For many, the first sighting of a robin or two in their backyard is an indication that spring has arrived. For the residents of Stratford and the surrounding area, the return of the Swans to the Avon River is a truly festive celebration to announce the arrival of spring. This unusual event has become an annual tradition that attracts more and more visitors each year from as far away as London, Kitchener, Toronto and Windsor.

The Perth County Pipe Band will lead the swans from their Winter Quarters behind the William Allman Arena to the Avon River along a route lined with hundreds of onlookers. Additional assistance will be provided by members of the district Scouting Movement and Community Services staff. This year, Tim Horton’s will generously provide complimentary coffee and timbits.

Visit www.city.stratford.on.ca to read more about the swans. Plan to arrive early. Free parking is available at the arena on Lakeside Drive in Stratford. The event is organized by the Stratford Civic Beautification and Environmental Awareness Committee.

Summer Events

St. Marys Golf and Country Club extend very discounted rates to Westover Inn guests. Eighteen holes on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays is only $46 with a cart and $33 without.

All other days, a round is only $38 with a cart and $27 without. Nine holes is $32 with a cart and $21 without. We are happy to book your tee times for you. When you check-in to the Westover Inn, you will receive a special coupon to take with you
to the golf course to take advantage of these special discounts.

St. Marys Golf & Country Club - Very challenging, beautifully manicured golf course with a fantastic club house and pro shop. Guests of the Westover are entitled reduced green fees with coupon. Tee off times should be booked through the golf course directly at 519.284.3704.
River Valley Golf & Tube - This challenging golf course located about ten minutes from St. Marys is also famous for winter tube fun and adventure. Call 1.800.795.9405.

Wildwood Conservation Area - Very good, manicured hiking and cross-country skiing trails (you do need your own skis). Lovely spot and a must see for any outdoorsy type.
